For Parents
Welcome to Skyview Elementary, home of the Eagles!
August 1, 2024
Dear Skyview Elementary Families,
I am excited to welcome you back to the 2024-25 school year! I am blessed to continue to have the opportunity to serve our awesome school community. It is truly an honor to be part of the Sky View Elementary family and work side by side with our certificated and classified staff, parents/guardians, families, and community members. This partnership ensures that our students receive the best instructional program and are safe and supported throughout their elementary school journey.
I look forward to having another successful school year. Last year we celebrated many successes that included improving our student attendance, showing improvement in our CAASPP scores, maintaining a thriving Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program, launching the start of the PESD-Sky View Elementary Mariachi, being acknowledged district wide for our support of Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month, and successful student and parent events such as our Multi-Cultural and Diversity Day and College and Career Day, just to name a few. Our goal this year is to continue with this momentum and commit to ensuring that our students, staff, and families are welcomed by a positive climate and culture and our students receive the social-emotional and academic support to succeed.
I invite you to join us in our commitment to the mission and vision of Sky View Elementary so that each student can learn in a safe environment with learning opportunities that are rigorous, well-balanced, character building, and diverse. At Sky View Elementary, our students are able to achieve their maximum academic potential and become productive citizens in our community. As parents/guardians, you are the first teacher to our students. Therefore, it is essential to work collaboratively so that our students thrive every day. I invite you to be an active member of our school community by volunteering at our site, attending parent and family events, providing feedback through surveys, and having open and ongoing communication with administration, teachers, and staff, as you play the most important role in the academic success of your child. Finally, I invite you to commit to having your child attend school on time, every day. When your child misses school, they miss out on first, best instruction and classroom community building that also strengthens their academic performance.
This year we look forward to hosting family events that highlight the programs at our school. Be on the look out for information about these events. It is also exciting to see our first DLI students becoming 6th graders. These students have worked hard and helped pave the way for our growing DLI program. We are also excited to begin our DLI TK program, which will help to build a strong foundation in bilingualism and biliteracy for our DLI students.
Lastly, we are thrilled to announce that our district has received the Community Schools Partnership Program Grant. This grant will enable us to provide enhanced support for the social and emotional well-being of our students. We eagerly look forward to partnering with you on this journey, as we empower our students for a bright future!
As always, my door is open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year. I look forward to an AWESOME 2024-25 school year as our Sky View Eagles R.I.S.E.: "Eagles R.I.S.E.: The Sky's the limit!"
